The goddess theme was indeed prevalent. The star
of last season’s Designer Début, Antonio Ortega, was
back for a solo show. His collection, called Icon, brought a mythic
feel to his couture creations. There were also unique touches in
the staging, such as using Rachel Ruler, a ballet dancer, to model
silk dress with ostrich and peacock feathers while balanced on pointe
shoes.
Andy Thê Anh pulled no punches with
his ultra-modern Digital Goddesses collection. ‘It was a theme I’ve
always loved, one I felt the time was right for,’ he said. What’s
right on? Eye-popping colours: one of the most electric blues going,
fuchsia, cherry red and lemon yellow, against backdrop shades of
black, white, khaki and sand.
