The
tone of the show changed dramatically when the line changed from Mason
to Michelle Mason
The Mason collection—no reference to Michelle—was
creamy and tan with a hint of luxury in details of the clothing.
There were some very pretty pieces, especially an army cut shirt
paired with a soft coral flowing A-line skirt. Navy blue, V-neck
fitted tops, with chocolate brown minis were cute and easily conceivable.
The tone of the show changed dramatically when
the line changed from Mason to Michelle Mason.
Michelle Mason was shown by a parade of only African–American
women, wearing bright dramatic shades of emerald green and cherry
red willowy skirts and tops. This was an eveningwear line that was
beautiful and sophisticated, a more grown-up version of the ready-to-wear
collection. It featured genie pants and halter dresses. There was
a bit of a ’70s theme, but the main connections in these pieces
were the fitted waists, and fabrications of silk and viscose.
Michelle Mason has done much to put LA
on the map as a high-fashion city. If she continues in this direction,
it will be known for more than celebrities in no time.
