MUST
ADMIT I always get excited when fresh talent comes to display their
wears on the runway. You can usually tell after two shows if one
has a chance in the now-choppy waters of the fashion world.
Behnaz Sarafpour had a strong act to follow, especially
after a highly praised first collection for fall 2002. Spring 2003
has to be one of the best collections I have seen, though granted,
it was still opening day in New York for Fashion Week. If there
were better collections to come then Sarapfour had set an incredibly
high standard.
With 26 pieces, Behnaz showed a perfectly edited
line where every piece was functional and forward-thinking.
Black-and-white cotton and wool wrap dresses opened
the show. Her little black dress was sexy yet avant-garde.
