We wondered what ‘Runaway’ meant. Escaping to far-flung lands? Adventurous holidays? No. These models were not-so-little-girl-lost, hitting the road looking for excitement.

So what does one need to be a modern Runaway? Practicality must enter into it. Try a mix between an army flak jacket and Dad's fishing vest. Lots of pockets, zips and a handy built in backpack to keep your red-, black- and cream-striped vest dress and bikini, should you need them. Floral camouflage print tops will help you blend in with shades of olive, orange and taupe, khaki skirts or three-quarter length trousers won't show the dirt and long, white knee-length socks with a sporty stripe at the top will keep you warm.
Also, if you're going places you'll need a map, so print it on your T-shirt and save space for the more important things such as black PVC trousers (wipe-clean, you know), white heavy lace dress and black tux jacket. Wearing the jacket sans top will certainly get you noticed, as will a satin bomber jacket embroidered with ‘Runaway’ on the back.
Complement with caps to keep the sun out of your eyes, complete with Little Hobo girl motif and lots of hoods to keep your ears warm.
Just hold onto your diamante Hobo girl motif necklace—perhaps stash it in one of your many pockets.
You’re ready for your adventure to begin. • Simone Knol
