Lucire fall-winter 2002-2003

Lines and dots initially seemed out of place for an eveningwear couture collection till one remembers the playfulness (and a slightly cute insolence) that accompanies the Franck Sorbier style

Ribbons were his theme for winter: there was plenty in black and red, forming waistcoats and dresses. A braided black coat, a red crêpe dress and a black underskirt appeared playful, in some instances accompanying skirt fabrics made up of lines and dots. These initially seemed out of place for an eveningwear couture collection till one remembers the playfulness (and a slightly cute insolence) that accompanies the Franck Sorbier style.
His ethereal models were reminiscent of his fairy tale theme in the past. However, this time Sorbier did not have to rely on tulle to express his wearers’ femininity, which is the usual aim of his collections. • Jack Yan
