He has his villainesses’ prowess to thank, even if 2002 has shown us, time and time again, that crime doesn’t pay

Blood and villainy were regular themes throughout: even the wedding dress was blood-stained; other items included a black organdie gown featuring flowers that gave off dismay and despair.
Taffeta pants, including one pair under a taffeta dress, and white silk dresses sewn with pillows, were touches that shook the establishment in Paris, though they were not necessarily must-haves for the couture buyer.
Colours were subdued, keeping a dark mood of blacks and greys. Lighting kept even the white dresses, including those in otherwise delightful silk crêpe, funereal.

He has his villainesses’ prowess to thank for that, even if 2002 has shown us, time and time again, that crime doesn’t pay. Perhaps crime as a theme in a fantasy world does? • Jack Yan
