Over the seasons her clothes have moved in a slow progression
from sexy and racy to luxurious garments, which would make any woman beautiful.
Making a woman beautiful was her main objective and was executed flawlessly.
The evening dresses for this season can be only described as very Christina
Perrin. The black bias-cut column dress with one sleeve was just a
drop-dead number and a staple of her signature style. As was a black one-shoulder
dress paired with a pin strip silk wrap.
If you’re looking for daywear, look elsewhere, this
was only a 30-piece collection with a heavy concentration on evening.
It seems that the daywear has been slowly moved out of the design house
over the past year and a half, since her eveningwear had received so much
attention.
It comes as a sad moment that Ms Perrin has decided
to close shop. Being a designer to the stars is a wonderful thing, bringing
many benefits along the route. If you cannot sell a collection to the
general public and your concentration is on dressing a young starlet,
you have your work cut out for you. Isaac Mizrahi, in my opinion, suffered
the same fate: a darling amongst the Hollywood and fashion set but that
was it.
Be prepared, there are more closures to come. I won’t
name names but I have my list. I just wish that her name had stayed clear
of that list and she would continue on. I’ll miss you Christina Perrin:
you always knew how to made a woman sexy and elegant. Richard Spiegel
