HE latest European trend for lingerie is colour: it's no longer limited to whites and off-whites. We began seeing this last year at La Perla and some of its competitors, with pink and black returning for spring 2001. La Perla, in particular, innovated with its brassière-bretelle, previewed in Lucire last October at the Milano shows. It also showcased the chain-kini, a bikini made up of 18-carat gold chains.
   With the official launch of the La Perla spring–summer 2001 underwear line, the design directions of the company become clearer, and as this series of photographs show, its designers have stayed faithful to the credo of Ada Masotti and the first La Perla store in 1954.
